Choosing the best candidate for the job can be a difficult choice. I believe that a candidate with many years of experience and a vast knowledge range across a broad spectrum of technical subjects is always a logical choice. I am one of those candidates, and I hope to demonstrate that with some examples of the work I have done. Brief History David Savage is a Microsoft Certified Trainer with about 18 years experience in the computer industry. After originally starting out in sales at the Connection Group (Software and Incredible Connection) I soon moved up into middle management, first as a product manager and then as Technical Workshop Manager in charge of 4 staff. While at Connection Group I studied further part-time and obtained the MSCE qualification under NT4.0 After 3 years I moved to PCI (a computer wholesaler) as the Technical and Production Manager where I managed the manufacturing production line as well as all technical support services. I had 5 staff working under me in the Manufacturing Division and 3 staff in the Technical Support Division. My function was to establish more efficient manufacturing line techniques and a streamlined support system. During my time there I managed to double manufacturing output in a 6 month period. From PCI I then moved to Dynamic Training Solutions (DTS) as a trainer. While there he obtained his Microsoft Certified Trainer certification. I was soon promoted to National Training Manager, an upper management position, where I was in charge of all training staff across 4 branches in Cape Town, Gauteng, Durban and Port Elizabeth. During this time I had a radio slot on both 5FM and Radio Goodhope, where I dispensed computer assistance and advice on a weekly basis. I was also responsible for developing new courseware and curricula, including the writing of training materials. I also managed the overall IT and communication strategy across all branches nationwide. After 3 years at DTS it was time to start my own company. I founded Etuan Technologies CC, which operated successfully for 3 years. The company covered a broad range of computer services, including networking, desktop and server support, maintenance contracts and internet services. Eventually Etuan’s client base started growing too large and it needed to expand to stay competitive. It was at this stage that I joined with SA Blue Chip Institute of Technology (Pty) Ltd. in the post of Infrastructure Director (a senior management position with a seat on the board). Up until then Blue Chip’s concentration was training, but with the takeover of Etuan a new Infrastructure Division was formed. While there I was pivotal in achieving the company Microsoft Partner status for Infrastructure Solutions. I had a staff complement of 15 which I was directly responsible for. Blue Chip IT was a full BEE company with strong ties to government, as such I became very familiar with the tender process of local and national government. I am a freelance Microsoft Certified Trainer, Mikrotik RouterOS Certified Trainer, Wireless Systems Specialist and Microsoft Systems Specialist with a broad range of specialties across a wide range of products and technologies. I have worked on networks spanning everything from small local networks up to systems encompassing 3500+ users across multiple countries I run a company in Cape Town, South Africa that specialises in high speed wireless VPN's, corporate connectivity, Wireless and wired CCTV installations and management.
